Paris Motor Show 2026: What New Models Are Hiding Under the Covers?
In just a few weeks, the covers will come off in Paris. Behind every hidden silhouette there may be a new electric city car, a more versatile hybrid, a spectacular concept—or the sports car capable of reconciling performance with a new set of constraints.
The 2026 Paris Motor Show will take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from 12 to 18 October 2026. 12 October is reserved for the press, before the show opens to the public from 13 to 18 October. It promises to be a closely watched edition at a time when drivers have never faced so many technologies—or so many questions.
Previous editions set the tone
The Paris Motor Show is not merely a place to display models we already know. It is also a stage for unveilings, concept cars and major statements about the future of the industry.
In 2018, Peugeot displayed the spectacular e-Legend Concept, which had been unveiled a few weeks earlier: an electric and resolutely modern interpretation of the French coupé, inspired by the heritage of the 504 Coupé.
In 2022, the show hosted the unveiling of the Renault 4EVER Trophy, previewing the return of the Renault 4 as an electric car, as well as the Jeep Avenger, the brand’s first fully electric SUV. Alpine also showcased Alpenglow, a radical concept placing hydrogen and driving pleasure at the heart of its vision.
In 2024, Renault chose Paris for the world premiere of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric. Visitors also discovered the Alpine A390_β, previewing an electric sports fastback, while Citroën staged the world premiere of its C5 Aircross Concept.
In 2026, the choice is no longer a two-way contest
Electric, hybrid, petrol or diesel: for many drivers, the right decision now depends on annual mileage, access to charging, journey types, budget and the kind of driving enjoyment they seek. There is no longer one universal answer, but several different use cases.
The 2026 show will therefore need to offer more than specifications. Visitors will be looking for practical answers about real-world range, charging times, weight, efficiency, price, versatility and running costs. Combustion and hybrid models will also have to demonstrate their relevance against a far broader electric offering.
A truly global competition
The official exhibitor list already brings together European, Asian and American manufacturers. French brands will therefore meet competitors in Paris whose strategies differ widely: electric newcomers, established specialists, premium brands and mass-market manufacturers.
This confrontation should be one of the show’s main attractions. Which brands will offer the most desirable cars? The most affordable? The best suited to long European journeys? And which innovations will move beyond promises to genuinely improve the driving experience?
What place will remain for the sports car?
This may be the question that matters most to us at My Roadster®. A sports car is not defined by a stopwatch alone. It is also about shape, steering feel, lightness, driving position and an emotion that is difficult to express in figures.
Electrification brings instant acceleration and creates new technical possibilities. It also raises challenges around weight, range under sustained performance driving, charging, sensation and affordability. Hybrid power may offer an appealing transition, while certain combustion engines continue to embody the mechanical connection cherished by enthusiasts.
The official programme also announces a 700 m² area dedicated to exceptional vehicles, called “(Un)limited”. That gives us reason to hope that performance, design and automotive dreams will retain a meaningful place alongside the energy debate.
Before every unveiling, there is a cover
In the seconds before a new model appears, the vehicle is still only a silhouette. The cover protects the bodywork, highlights the proportions and turns the unveiling into a moment of theatre.
